Being a guide in Maupin is something special. It can be best described as adult summer camp, where ridiculous meets adrenaline in the best ways (most of the time) It is a tiny community of seven raft companies 400 locals and an extra hundred or more guides May-September. It’s where I learned how important silliness is on the river, and how a costume can elevate everyone’s experience either in the boat or watching from shore.
