This was the only rapid I didn’t run with my partner. After a kiss for confience and a quick scramble across the rocky bank, I watched him quietly float around the bend. He made one final assessment of the line ahead of him and then turned his bow into the tongue of the rapid. I believe I was the only one out of the two of us that was remotely nervous. Capturing his moment of punching through the waves of Lava Falls was such an experience and one of my proudest moments for him on our trip.
