Paul Clark SUP surfs Jaws Rapid in the Nolichucky Gorge during peak fall colors. Hurricane Helene resulted in immense damage to this stretch of river, but negligent management of the river in the aftermath was equally as disastrous, allowing for the exploitative removal of river bedrock to rebuild the railway through the Gorge. The fight to save this river continues to this day.
